I am not entirely sure if in real RS you can do this or not...but I am fairly sure you are not supposed to be able to use rune arrows with it I can equip rune arrows and they can be used with the crossbow.

Secondly, karils crossbow does NOT range from a distance it runs up to the monster like melee

The running up to a monster might be a cause/effect of the rune arrows?... Does it have the same effect with a bolt rack or other type of ammo?
